Rautenberg & Company advises iCON on the acquisition of Strategic Fiber Networks Group.

Our team advised iCON Infrastructure on the acquisition of a controlling interest in three German fiber-related businesses, ropa GmbH & Co KG, NGN Telecom GmbH and Wisotel GmbH, together called Strategic Fiber Networks Group (“SFN Group”). The sale was carried out by companies led by LABcom Investment GmbH. Closing of the transaction took place on 28 October 2021.

iCON is an independent investment group with approximately USD 5 billion of assets under management, focusing on privately held mid-market investments in infrastructure assets in Europe and North America. iCON is a long-term investor with investments across its funds spanning a range of infrastructure sectors, including telecommunications, water, transportation, energy generation, distribution and storage.

Strategic Fiber Networks Group has the strategic goal of developing into one of the leading German fiber groups. It initially combines three companies previously led by LABcom Investment GmbH – ropa as a leading provider of carrier solutions, and NGN Telecom and Wisotel as integrated telecom operators.

LABcom Investment is owned by Heinz-Peter Labonte and has various shareholdings in the German broadband and telecoms market. Mr Labonte is also the founder of SMATcom and pepcom Group and the chairman of FRK (Broadcasting and Broadband Communications Association).

Our team around Arndt Rautenberg supported iCON Infrastructure in the acquisition process as sole financial advisor, with an integrated Commercial and Technical Due Diligence as well as with M&A and strategic advice.
