Rautenberg & Company advises Palladio Partners on the set-up of a data centre joint venture with Hochtief PPP Solutions.
Our team advised Palladio Partners on the setup of a joint venture to build and operate decentralised data centres with HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions, in which Palladio holds a majority stake. Signing of the transaction took place in January 2023.
Palladio Partners is a specialist in global real asset investments, in particular infrastructure investments, and focuses on German institutional clients. The company is predominantly invested in infrastructure projects such as fibre optic networks and wind farms. The owner-managed investment boutique with offices in Frankfurt and Luxembourg was founded in 2012, currently employs over 70 people and manages around EUR 8.5 billion.
HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions is a subsidiary of HOCHTIEF with more than 20 years of experience in the design, construction, financing, maintenance and operation of long-term building and infrastructure projects – including data centres in the public sector. In total, the Group has been involved in the construction of over 50 data centres. It employs a staff of 200 at its headquarters in Essen and on sites in Greece, the UK and the Netherlands.
Together, Palladio Partners and Hochtief PPP Solutions intend to build and operate data centres in Germany and provide a three-digit million Euro amount as funding. The focus is on decentralised data centres in metropolitan areas, but away from the large internet hubs – such as in the Rhine-Ruhr region.
Our team supported Palladio Partners throughout the acquisition process with a Commercial Due Diligence.
